Those who know me/read An Online Universe know how much I obsess about music in film or films about music. I received the trailer for this documentary in my inbox today and I couldn’t help but think, this is my sort of film.

In celebration of its 15th anniversary, Red Bull Music Academy has invited award-winning director Ralf Schmerberg to create a full-length feature film. What Difference Does It Make? A Film About Making Music was shot at the 2013 Red Bull Music Academy in New York and will see its première in movie theatres across the globe on February 17. From February 18, it will be available for free viewing on redbullmusicacademy.com. What Difference Does It Make? A Film About Making Music explores the challenges that a life in music can bring. It seeks to go beyond music, and ask questions about life itself.

“Why am I doing this and what difference does it make?”

I love listening to artists talk about the creative process, about why they make the art they do and what they hope to achieve. I find it all so inspiring, it’s a window into a different way of thinking about the world. I’m very much looking forward to seeing the film next month when it will be online for free viewing(!!)
