In the shadow of the sun

The sixth Human Rights Arts & Film Festival (HRAFF) will open in Melbourne on May 9th and travel to 6 centres across Australia in May and June.

The festival will open in Sydney on Tuesday 28 May with the highly anticipated documentary In the Shadow of the Sun – the début feature by British film-maker Harry Freeland which looks at the harrowing reality of ritual Albino killings in Tanzania.

This action-packed documentary chronicles the tumultuous birth of a new nation in East Timor and the remarkable relationship between, Kirsty Sword, a young Australian activist, and the incarcerated enigmatic leader of the Timorese resistance in Jakarta, Kay Rala “Xanana” Gusmão.
