April has been a reasonably quiet month, with cinema visits and repeat viewings down. As much as I love film, I also love TV, and this month has mostly been about catching up on Mad Men. I’ve also been following the cooking show My Kitchen Rules, as well as watching some Enlightened and Top of the Lake.
In April I viewed a mere 21 films. Check out my round-up after the jump.
Screenings refers to anything I have seen at the cinema/on the big screen.

I really enjoyed rounding up my Danny Boyle viewings with Shallow Grave and Millions. Millions was such a sweet and yet quite powerful little film. Having seen all of Boyle’s films except 127 Hours, I can see some very strong reoccurring ideas and themes. Mothers lost, absent fathers, siblings, money, greed and unearned wealth. He weaves these common themes to create quite unique films.
In May I expect I’ll see less films again. I’m on holiday and I’m going out of town without my laptop and I have no plans to be camped out in front of the telly. I am looking forward to finally seeing The Place Beyond the Pines and The Great Gatsby at some point though.
