the goonies

Happy Easter all! It’s been a quiet month on the site as my dayjob has been busy, and writer’s block has been an unwelcome presence in my life. I’ve felt far more like watching films than writing about them this month. Hopefully with some better films at the cinema on the horizon, inspiration might return. This month I viewed 30 films – check the round-up out after the jump.

Screenings refers to anything I have seen at the cinema/on the big screen.
New at home encompasses new-to-me, first-time viewings on DVD/Blu-ray/VOD/Screeners
Rewatches are obviously things I’ve seen before
Best viewing: my favourite viewing in each of the categories listed above
Apart from the ‘Best Viewing’, films are listed in the order they were viewed in.

Best viewing: Laurence Anyways

Jack the Giant Slayer

Warm Bodies
Top Gun – IMAX 3D

Best Viewing: Before Sunset

Raising Arizona

Best viewing: Drive

The Aristocats
E.T. The Extra Terrestrial
The Goonies

Only 8 visits to the cinema this month and they were mostly dire. Thank goodness for the burst of colour and life that both Trance and Laurence Anyways provided. I also had a heap of fun watching Top Gun on the huge IMAX screen. Those flight sequences really popped.

Andrew and I finally got around to watching the Before Sunrise & Before Sunset; and we are both now incredibly excited for Before Midnight. These films are just something special – they speak to your heart; your greatest fears and your deepest desires.

Film goals for April: FIND MY MOJO!!!!!! I really miss writing and I need to bust this creative block. My dayjob should be getting less hectic, so I’m hoping that will translate to more energy for writing. I’m also hoping that the new release films in April are a little more inspiring… At home I plan on catching a few more of Danny Boyle’s back catalogue – Millions and A Life Less Ordinary are top of my ‘to watch’ list.

2013 totals
Screenings: 25
New at Home: 27
Rewatches: 22

Total: 74
