Ben Affleck has won the Outstanding Directorial Achievement in a Feature Film award at the 65th Annual Directors Guild of America Awards held overnight in Los Angeles. After wining the PGA and the ensemble cast award at the SAGS, Argo has a lot of momentum behind it as we inch ever so closer to the Academy Awards. However, only two films have ever won the Best Picture Academy Award without a Best Director nomination; and the films this year are of such a high standard, that a win for Argo is by no means a given.

Malik Bendjelloul has continued Searching for Sugar Man‘s winning streak, picking up the DGA award for Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Documentary.
