EFA

More than 2,700 members of the European Film Academy have voted on the organisation’s annual film awards, which were announced in Malta. Michael Haneke’s Palme d’Or winning drama Amour won big with four awards, including the ‘European Film 2012’ award. Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy and Shame both won two awards – I am especially happy that Sean Bobbitt won the cinematography award for his extraordinary work in Shame.

Is this to be another year where I agree with the European awards more so than the American? It’s too early to say, but the Europeans are certainly off to a great start. I can’t disagree with any of these winners (for the films I’ve seen).
