As I’m not seeing any new films this week (and have factored in my 3 planned re-watches) I’ve decided to post this a couple of days early. The second quarter of 2012 has seen me see 95 films (including Prometheus which I saw twice in the cinema). This is one less than the 96 I saw in the first quarter, taking me to 191 for the first half of the year, and putting me on target for my goal of a film a day. Check out my 10 favourite picks after the jump!
Below are my top 10 new to me films (in order from #1-10) for this quarter of the year (you can check out my Jan-March round-up here). Only films I watched for the first time [ever] between April and June could be considered. Click on the film’s title to go to a review of that film (reviews are a mix of this site and other reviews)

This was not an easy list to make. There were another 10 films which could have easily been in the second half of this list. I’m pretty happy with what I’ve watched, but I have to say I didn’t watch many classic films – I should try to balance that out in the coming months. Let me know your thoughts!

I’m very much looking forward to “Holy Motors” and “The Cabin in the Woods” (hope both are at the NZFF 2012).
“This Must Be The Place” is written and directed by Paolo Sorrentino, the maker of “The Consequences of Love”, which I’ve recommended previously. (Same DoP too.) I’ll have to check that out as well.
Are you in Wellington Steve? Both are playing at the Embassy for NZFF.
Yep in Wellington. Cool.
I haven’t even checked the schedule yet. Must get on to that.
